Since I have missed two Royal Wedding Wednesdays...

I thought I would share this link to one of my favorite Royal Wedding Websites, The Windsor Knot. Today it featured an article and the preview of the Lifetime movie "William & Kate." I can't wait to watch it! Please enjoy.

Life update.

  • I am in the mountains and had altitude sickness... or maybe just sickness today. But feeling better. Hopefully hitting the slopes full force tomorrow.
  • I am really missing reading all my blogs so instead of going to bed I just did a catch up on two days of missed blog posts.
  • I was not including one of the upcoming weddings I knew about in the "Summer of 10 Weddings because it was scheduled for September (which I consider fall)... but it got moved up to May... so now it is officially the "Summer of 11 Weddings."
That is all for now. I am off to bed. I will be back to regular blogging on Monday! Looking forward to it. But also very much enjoy this life break.

An Extra Week of Lent.

So I decided to give up fried food for lent this year. Since I am a very picky eater and chicken strips are usually on every menu... I have sufficiently cut my food intake by a lot. (The Bif thinks it is amazing I don't weight over 200 lbs.) But giving things up is not supposed to be easy... so that is why I chose this. I am also giving up Pepperoni Pizza. I will also be making an effort to eat salads for lunch. (Note: I have only been eating salad for probably the last 8 months. I don't like vegetables... they taste like I took a bite of the ground. It is like eating grass.) You get the point.

But the true story begins here... I have been working crazy hours and when I am not working I am running around trying to do errands and have a little fun (i.e. going to a concert) so I have paid very little attention to when Lent actually started. The Bif had a King Cake in the office last week and without checking just assumed that was the sign Lent had started. He told me this so I started my non-fried food diet... a week early! I didn't question him on it because A) he has a huge head that is filled with a huge brain so he usually is right about things like this, B) I didn't have time to check, and C) I was excited (slightly) about my healthy diet. Weird. But none the less, I show up to work today and receive an e-mail that says "King Cake in the Bizhub. Happy Fat Tuesday." So at least I am now with the times... instead of ahead of the times.

p to the s. Happy Birthday to my Little Bro! Welcome to your twenties!

Think Happy Thoughts...

So I have worked 13 out of the past 14 days... leaving me absolutely no work/life balance. We took this past Saturday off and I did get to do some fun things, so that helped. But I am looking for some relaxation in my life. So even though I feel a little down in the dumps today I thought I could make a list of the things that I am happy about... So here I go:

  • I got to spend some quality time with the girls giving back to the community at the YWCA's Wine, Women & Shoes event Saturday afternoon.
  • I stood at the front of the stage for the Casey James/Little Big Town/Sugarland Concert on Saturday night. Made eye contact with all but one member of LBT and touched both the girls hands (Girl Crush... Can't help it.) Made eye contact with Kristian from Sugarland. (Sidenote: Jennifer Nettles does not look at you or engage you at all. No acknowledgement that there were people inches away from her... She lost some points in my book.) Really great concert. So glad I got to spend time with my amazing friends, Allix and Sarah! And so glad I got to have all that fun for f.r.e.e. (Thanks Allix!)This time next week I will be with my Fam on Spring Break... Skiing. (Yay! SB doesn't have to end in the real world!)
  • I should be able to get in a lot of reading on my trip next week! Hopefully I will be able to finish my book.
  • In 33 days I get to be a bridesmaid for the first time. So honored and excited.
What great therapy list making is... I feel better already.

Just Call Me Kate Middleton.

My co-worker Susan brought me this imitation Sapphire and Diamond ring that is the same as Kate's. She was obsessed with the Royal Wedding of Charles and Diana when she was younger and has a ton of memorabilia from that time. She knows I am obsessing over Will and Kate's Wedding and decided to share a piece of her collection with me! (She is also taking the day off work to watch the Royal Wedding!) If only it were real!

The Spring/Summer of 10 Weddings.

If you couldn't guess based on the title of this post... I have 10 weddings to attend in the next 5 months. Luckily, none of the weddings occur on the same day, but some are back to back days in back to back weekends. Only one of the ten weddings will be in my city. So I am going to be putting some miles on Lily (my car) as we take to the open road to join my buddies in holy matrimony.

I must say I am quite a bit stressed out over how I am going to make it to all of these weddings. I really don't plan to have any down time at all this summer. And along with weddings come... Showers! Which seem to be filling up all the other weekends I have free. It is nuts. (By the way, I am naming my next dog Nuts.)

I already live away from most of my friends, which is a huge bummer because I rarely get to see them. And most of them live in the city of their family so they never have a reason to come to my city. So I am really looking forward to all the opportunities I have over the spring and summer to see all my buddies.

I know driving places almost every weekend is going to be a huge pain... but once I get to my destination and see my buddies it will be worth it.

I have already created some lists in order to help me survive this crazy wedding season:
  • What dress should I wear to each wedding List. (I can't afford 10 new dresses... so I have to plan on which ones I'll wear around different crowds. Don't want to be caught in the same dress at every wedding!)
  • Elphie-Sitter List. Since nine of these weddings are out of town I have to make arrangments for my furchild.
  • Wedding Gift Bought List. Have to keep straight who I have bought a gift for or not. I like to buy them at least a month or two in advance.
I'm sure there are more lists to come... and I'll blog about the ones above soon!

Royal Wedding in my Mailbox.

No, It was not an invitation to the Royal Wedding in my mailbox... but you can only imagine how excited I was when I pulled this out.

And nestled in between a Biore ad and a story about the falling out of Miley Cyrus' family was a three page spread covering new wedding details. Yippee!
So let me fill you in on the newest news:

  • Invitations have been sent out. Who got invites? The Beckhams will be attending, but the Obamas were snubbed. (Apparently, I was too.) Also not invited, The Dutchess of York, but I think she dug her own grave on that one. Who is on the maybe list? Kanye and Elton John.
  • Kate will be arriving in a car. Not the carriage. But she will leave with William in the carriage. The thought seems to be she arrives as Miss Middleton and leaves as Her Royal Highness of whatever.
  • Speaking of her new name. It is rumored that upon the wedding Prince William will be bestowed a dukedom, possibly Cambridge or Sussex. But even though she would be a dutchess, since she is marrying a prince she, of course, will be a princess.
  • The Parties. After the ceremony the Queen will be hosting a Breakfast for 600 guests. At 7 p.m. Prince Charles will host  a dinner dance. Probably for about 300 guests.
Hope you enjoyed your weekly dose of Royal Wedding. I'll send you off with a closer look at the invitation.

Jackie O is my Person.

I love Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. She has fascinated me for years. I have read multiple books about her and her marriage to JFK. My favorite book so far is "Jack and Jackie: Portrait of an American Marriage" by Christopher Andersen. It looks a little something like this:

The picture of them on the cover of this book is one of my favorites. I absolutely adore her wedding dress. Here is the picture up close:

Jackie just has a sense of style like no one else. If I could have a quarter of the style she has I think I would be doing pretty good. I could look through the picture books I have about her for hours. (This is the point where I should have taken a picture of my Jackie book collection... oops.)

But any time I am ever asked the question, "If you could invite one person to dinner, dead or alive, who would it be?" I will always answer Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. She is my person.

Who is your person?
